Sound Orb

Feel the music—an immersive tactile sound experience

Imagine touching sound itself: The undulations of a cello solo, the impact of a kick drum, the explosion of a thunder clap. Conceived and constructed by composer Albert Behar, the Sound Orb bridges the gap between hearing and feeling. Within each 10-inch diameter Sound Orb is a powerful tactile transducer that converts sound into physical energy. This energy travels through the wooden sphere and resonates the audience member’s hands and body. The result is an unforgettable synesthetic experience.

The Sound Orb debut installation was a hit at the American Composers Orchestra SONiC Festival and more dates are planned for 2016.
